Is being healthy anti fun?

Is being healthy anti fun?

This comes from an all or nothing way of thinking. Many of us believe that if I am going to pursue this healthy lifestyle, then everything that isn’t healthy has to go. The thought is, if I do this health thing -  I have to be this ultra rigid, calorie counting, in bed by 8, no fun individual. Maybe you have seen some of these people, who bring their own food to the party (if they even come), never have dessert, won’t have a beer, and really seem to not be enjoying themselves at all. That’s not the approach I take, 

To me being healthy is freedom to enjoy life without any guilt.

Think about it, if you think exercise is a waste of time and paying attention to your diet is restrictive, eventually your health is going to suffer and you’ll be forced to make some changes, and like a lot of people you’ll be thinking about it most of the time. On the other hand if you generally take care of yourself with regular exercise, and a healthy diet (most of the time) - you’re free to actually enjoy some pizza and beer with some ice cream during movie night with the family. 

We just have to make sure we are following some default settings that most of the time we are dialed in. Make the occasion the occasion, this not only keeps us healthy most of the time, but also makes the occasion special and more enjoyable.
