My top 7 Health Priorities:
1. Workout: Nothing moves the health needle for me better than regular exercise. Good mix of weight training, and cardio on a daily basis.
2. Water: Good hydration is really important, I can tell if I haven't had enough water. I feel lethargic, lack focus, and generally feel not great. I aim to get close to 1 gallon a day.
3. Sleep: Sleep is sometimes a challenge for me, I spent years working at night and odd hours, so getting into a good routine (which is key) has been tough. The ideal amount for me is about 7 hours.
4. Nutrition: My problem is actually eating enough. I am often not hungry, it's easy to skip meals and not prioritize getting food in. On an ideal day, I am eating about 4 meals a day with a couple protein shakes with the goal of about 175g of protein per day.
5. Alcohol: I drink alcohol, but it's limited. Alcohol affects sleep, testosterone, and can have all kinds of negative impacts on our overall health.
6. Outside time: Getting in nature, or just getting in the sun is very beneficial. If I can get some time in the morning in direct sunlight it has a noticeable effect on my day.
7. Mental Workout: Like the body the brain needs some attention. For me I play chess, I try to get a game in every day. This (workout) is mentally challenging and requires me to focus and think a little deeper.
There's obviously more topics in regards to health, like stretching, relationships, vitamins and supplements, but over the years these seven have been what I've found make the biggest difference in health for me.
